Wichita Kansas ASIS Chapter 68


Executive Committee
Chairman: Patrick Atkins, CPP

     The Executive Committee consists of the elected Officers (i.e. Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer.) It conducts Chapter Business between Chapter meetings and works as a team in consensus. This committee meets with the Regional Vice President at least once per year to overview and discuss the Chapter’s health, activity, and policy compliance. In addition it designs strategic planning for the Chapter and monitors progress towards its goals through the Chapter’s Strategic Plan. As part of the annual meeting with the Regional Vice President the Executive Committee also reviews the Chapter’s financial condition through an audit and engages in discussions detailing opportunities which will strengthen Chapter operations and activities.
     The Executive Committee should strive to keep the membership informed of all activities. It also recommends its findings to the membership at monthly Chapter meetings. In all of its activities it maintains a proactive position in assuring membership input.


Program Committee

     The Program Committee designs the meaningful and timely array of programs for the Chapter each year. Membership input and interest as well as current and future topics of interest are essential. The committee schedules speakers and provides for all resources and aspects of the facilitation of programs.


Membership Committee
Chairperson: Penny Mann

     The Membership Committee is responsible for generating a strategic plan for the development of membership at the Chapter level. It provides membership information and applications. In addition it reviews applications for eligibility and processes the applications with ASIS International. It also produces a Membership Roster and Directory annually.


Public Relations Committee

     The design and implementation of a dynamic program in Public Relations is the province of this committee. This committee maintains contact with the community and profession through the use of various media. Assuring that members and all others whom should have an awareness of Chapter activities is a major goal of this committee. Constantly seeking opportunities to provide outreach and information regarding the Chapter, this committee also generates speaking opportunities for Officers and other members to speak about ASIS in the community.


Hospitality Committee

     The need to organize elements of meetings and events is the responsibility of the Hospitality Committee. From finding and reserving venues for meetings and other events to completing registration activities, this committee provides an important function. Greeting members and guests, inviting new members and guests to meetings as well as providing members with name tags are some of the “hands on,” activities which the Hospitality Committee undertakes.


Placement Committee

     The Placement Committee provides resumes of local Chapter members seeking positions to local employers for whom the ASIS candidate qualifies. This is an added resource for members who may be seeking changes in security positions.


Certification Committee

     As a professional organization, continuing education and industry certifications are essential. The Certification Committee keeps members informed of testing dates, locations, materials and study/preparation opportunities. It also maintains an awareness program providing the Chapter with current information regarding individuals’ ASIS certifications. It also serves as an advisory board for matters dealing with various certifications.


Seminar/Workshop Committee

     This committee is charged with the design and facilitation of all of the aspects of training seminars and/or workshops. This highly detailed activity requires the ability to design curriculum and syllabi, select and acquire speakers as well as all resources for the events. The Seminar/Workshop Committee also is responsible for the marketing of the various events.


ASIS Foundation/Scholarship

     Providing up-to-date information on all programs and progress of the ASIS Foundation is the primary responsibility of this committee. This committee must stay well connected to the Foundation and develop awareness procedures to enhance opportunities for individual members who may be interested in the various resources the Foundation provides.


Law Enforcement Liaison

     This committee works closely with local law enforcement and private security’s involvement in the community. It encourages and invites law enforcement guests to the monthly Chapter meetings and serves as an active force on the local police training committee and Police Chief’s Combined Committee on Private Security licensure.


Legislative

     The Legislative Committee keeps track of and reports on developments in proposed state and local legislation of interest to the security profession. It also prepares and presents testimony when called on to do so by various legal and governmental entities on behalf of the local Chapter. A primary responsibility of this committee is its constant liaison with ASIS International in documenting all legislative activity which it is involved in and reporting that activity and its ramifications to ASIS International Headquarters.


Private Security Council Services

     The Private Security Council Services Committee provides for the Chapter to have an industry voice in the network of private security entities which make up out profession. It is involved with accurately representing the Chapter’s position as regards issues which impact the Private Security Industry.
